History

The late Charles Lamming, founder of the Lowna herd, registered his first goats in 1973. In the mid nineties his daughter Tricia and son-in-law Tom Wallis increased the herd and started to produce high quality natural dairy products

Tom first studied the art of cheese making at the famous West Highland Dairy in Achmore by Kyle of Lochalsh. Tricia and Tom then refined their skills working together in their own Lowna Dairy to become amongst the countries premier speciality cheese makers.

Originally sold only locally, the products are now marketed not only via Farmers markets but also through specialist delicatessens in North and East Yorkshire. Many restaurants have also recognised the quality of the Lowna Dairy products – see our testimonials page.
